Police Identify Motorcyclist Dennis Shakelford after Hemet Car Crasht

 
HEMET, CA (August 9, 2022)Dennis Shakelford of Hemet died following a two-vehicle crash on Menlo Avenue and State Street on late Monday night, July 18.

According to the Hemet Police Department, 51-year-old Shakelford was riding his motorcycle when a white Hyundai Sedan struck him from behind at about 11:15 p.m.

Shakelford was traveling southbound on State Street when he stopped for a red light at Menlo Avenue, authorities said. He then waited for the light to turn green before pulling into the intersection, where the Sedan collided into the back end of his motorcycle.

Shakelford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the Sedan was also heading southbound on State Street at a “steady speed” when the fatal collision happened.

The driver of the Sedan, whose identity was not disclosed, did not flee the area and was assessed by paramedics with minor injuries that needed no hospitalization.

No arrest was conducted at this time.

The incident is still under investigation. Officials encouraged anyone with information on the case to contact the police Traffic Bureau at 951-765-2400.
