Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 9, 2022) — A woman died following a pedestrian crash on Truxtun Avenue on Tuesday morning, July 19.

The fatal incident occurred on the 1600 block of Truxtun Avenue, according to the Bakersfield Police Department officers who received reports of the collision at around 4:30 a.m.

Police identified the involved vehicle as a Hall Ambulance facilities maintenance truck. Based on the statement of authorities, a female pedestrian was walking outside the crosswalk in downtown Bakersfield when the maintenance truck struck her.

The woman fell to the ground and was assessed with major injuries. Officials who responded to the scene rendered aid, transporting her to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The truck driver, identified only as a woman, did not flee the area and cooperated in the investigation.

Investigations revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk.

It was also determined that the influence of drugs or alcohol and speeding did not appear as a factor in the crash.
