D’Antai Nelson Dies in Battle Ground Accident on Highway 503

 
BATTLE GROUND, WA (July 18, 2024) — A 20-year-old Battle Ground man identified as D’Antai Nelson died in a two-car accident on Sunday, June 30.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place on Highway 503/Lewisville Highway near 299th Street at around 11:30 p.m.
 
WSP said Nelson traveled south in a 1998 Chevy Lumina on State Highway 503. Then he crossed the centerline into the northbound lane. After that, he collided head-on with a 2016 GMC Acadia.
 
Reports said Nelson died at the scene of the two-vehicle accident.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the second vehicle to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. Officials released her identity as 37-year-old Larissa M. Matson, of Battle Ground.
 
According to WSP, both Nelson and Matson wore seat belts. They have not released if impairment contributed as a factor to the accident.
 
The Washington State Department of Transportation shut down the road for around four hours during the investigation.
