Daniel Duran Dies in Surprise Car Crash, Chalsey Brown Arrested for DUI

 
SURPRISE, AZ (January 20, 2023) – Police identified 57-year-old Daniel Duran as the victim who died in a suspected DUI crash on Bell Road on January 1.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Parkview Place just before 2:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, 29-year-old Chalsey Brown was driving near the intersection when she rear-ended Duran’s car. Subsequently, the victim lost control, swerved toward a median, and hit a palm tree.
 
As a result, Duran died at the scene.
 
Police said Brown kept driving and sideswiped another car before she hit a tree in the median.
 
Officers reported that Brown refused to get out of her car upon their arrival. In addition, they confirmed that she showed signs of impairment and she was almost three times over the legal limit. Subsequently, officers arrested her on charges of manslaughter, endangerment, and DUI.
