Damian Torres Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Belt Line Road near Lakeview Drive in Grand Prairie

 
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX (June 26, 2023) – Officers arrested 21-year-old Damian Torres following a fatal crash on South Belt Line Road on June 23.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Lakeview Drive around 10:45 PM. Based on a report, Torres was driving a silver Ford Mustang near the intersection prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a Honda Civic was making a left turn. Due to unknown reasons, Torres struck the Mustang and fled the scene.
 
As a result, a juvenile passenger in the Honda suffered grave injuries and died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Crews transported the Honda driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
Damian turned himself in to police and was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, accident involving death and accident involving injury.
 
The crash is still under investigation.
