Cynthia Phelps Arrested, Man and Teen Killed after Pedestrian Accident in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 29, 2024) — Las Vegas police arrested Cynthia Phelps after a pedestrian accident on Wednesday, April 17.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident took place on Boulder Highway, south of Dalhart Street around 7:37 p.m.
 
Police determined that a 2014 KIA Rio moved northbound on Boulder Highway at a high speed. At the same time, several pedestrians waited for a bus at a nearby RTC shelter.
 
The accident happened when the KIA left the roadway. Then it struck multiple fixed objects that it carried into the shelter. After that, it struck several pedestrians and projected them onto the roadway.
 
Emergency responders brought three pedestrians to UMC Trauma Center by ambulance for treatment of injuries. One suffered life-threatening injuries and the other two suffered serious injuries.
 
Two other pedestrians only descrived as a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old teen died at the scene.
 
The driver of the KIA showed signs of impairment after the crash. They identified her as 64-year-old Phelp. After that, they brought her into custody on DUI-related charges. Police say she also received treatment for minor injuries.
