Crystal Hughey Arrested, Rider Dead after Las Vegas Motorcycle Crash

 
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (May 22, 2024) — Authorities arrested 43-year-old Crystal Hughey after a fatal motorcycle accident on Thursday, May 9.
 
According to the North Las Vegas police, the accident happened in the area of Owens Avenue near James Street at about 6:21 p.m.
 
North Las Vegas Police said a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveled westbound on Owens at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a brown 2011 Chevrolet HHR driven by Hughey was stopped westbound near James Street in the center turn lane.
 
The motorcycle tried to pass around other vehicles by swerving into the center median. Then it slammed into the back of the Chevrolet.
 
Police said the impact ejected the 29-year-old male motorcycle rider from the Harley.
 
Medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the rider dead. His identity was not immediately available.
 
Hughey did not sustain injuries. He showed symptoms of impairment and police placed him under arrest.
 
Authorities booked Hughey into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center. She faced charges of DUI, felony child endangerment, and other traffic-related charges.
