PUYALLUP, WA (December 13, 2023) – Puyallup Police confirmed that a cook suffered serious injuries in an accident at Don’s Drive-In on South Meridian on December 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 1:30 PM. Based on a report, a 64-year-old Bonney Lake man crashed into the restaurant’s building and knocked over its fryer.
 
Subsequently, hot oil from the fryer spilled over into the victim. Emergency crews said the victim sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident. They transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Two other employees suffered minor burns and were treated at the scene.
 
Officers arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.
 
City inspectors determined that the building, at least temporarily, is too damaged to remain in operation. The Metro Cities Major Collision Response Team is investigating the incident.
