Connie Werner Killed in Crash on Loop 335 in Amarillo

 
AMARILLO, TX (June 10, 2024) – Officials identified 51-year-old Connie Werner of Spearman who died in a crash on Loop 335 on May 26.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at RM 1061 around 10:45 AM. Based on a report, Werner was driving a 2024 Hyundai Tucson.
 
At the same time, 49-year-old Daniel Contreras of Amarillo pulled over onto the shoulder of Loop 335 and made a U-turn on the downhill side of the bridge. Subsequently, he attempted to avoid the crash by swerving to the left but he hit Contreras’ 2001 Ford F-150.
 
As a result, Werner suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Contreras was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
