Cody Collins Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 31 in Smith County

 
SMITH COUNTY, TX (June 13, 2023) – Officers identified 34-year-old Cody Collins of Tyler who was struck and killed by a box truck on Highway 31 on June 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just east of Tyler around 4:00 AM. Based on a report, Collins was walking in the westbound lane of the highway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a Freightliner box truck driven by 55-year-old Kenneth W. Garland of Tyler struck him. The truck was also traveling west on the road.
 
As a result, Collins suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Garland was not hurt in the incident.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
