Christina Gernert Killed in Reardan Motorcycle Accident on Highway 2

 
REARDAN, WA (July 26, 2024) — 40-year-old Christina Gernert, of Post Falls, died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident took place on Highway 2 near milepost 268 at about 6:49 p.m.
 
WSP said Gernert rode her motorcycle at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 2. Then she tried to pass a car. However, she ended up crashing with a vehicle traveling westbound.
 
Officers said Gernert died at the scene.
 
WSP said speed contributed as a major factor and impairment was not.
 
According to the Washington Department of Transportation, the crash blocked some lanes of Highway 2. Officers then directed traffic to Stroup Road and Sunset Road. They reopened the closed areas of the highway within an hour.
 
The investigation of this incident is still underway.
