13-Year-Old Chris Amaya Dies, Debbie Amaya and Damian Amaya Hurt in Los Angeles Hit-and-Run

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 31, 2023)Chris Amaya died while his mother Debbie Amaya and siblings Damian Amaya and a girl sustained injuries after an alleged hit-and-run near East 111th Place and South Main Street on Monday morning, January 9.

The fatal incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Authorities said a silver Mercedes-Benz drove at a high rate of speed while trying to beat a red light. After that, crashed into a silver Toyota SUV, driven by 35-year-old Debbie Amaya with her two sons — 13-year-old Chris and two-year-old Damian — and her 16-year-old daughter in the car.

The force of the impact pushed the Toyota more than a hundred feet.

Chris Amaya died at the scene.

Debbie, Damian and the teen girl survived but sustained undisclosed injuries. However, it was reported that Damian is still in grave condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a man in his mid-30s who wore a blue shirt and blue jeans, fled the scene of the crash.

Officials are conducting an active investigation and search operation. No additional information is released at this time.
