Child Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 2 in Commerce City

 
COMMERCE CITY, CO (June 12, 2023) – The Commerce City Police confirmed that a child died in a pedestrian accident in the 7700 block of Highway 2 on June 1.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 7:30 PM. Based on a report, a Chevrolet Silverado was driving in a parking lot in the area when a child was hit. It was not clear why the victim was in the road at that time.
 
As a result, the child sustained severe injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name and age, pending family notification.
 
The driver of a truck stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers do not believe speed was a factor, but the contributing factors are still being determined.
 
As of now, the department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
