Charles Jones Arrested, Woman Hospitalized after Houston Crash on Lockwood Drive

 
HOUSTON, TX (March 5, 2024) — Officers arrested 64-year-old Charles Lee Jones after he pushed his girlfriend into traffic on Thursday, February 22.
 
According to Houston police, the crash took place in the 6500 block of Lockwood Drive at around 8:35 p.m.
 
Houston Police Department said Jones and her 42-year-old girlfriend got into an argument. Then it escalated into him reportedly assaulting her.
 
Witnesses tried to stop Jones. However, the suspect then allegedly hit one of them in the head with an unopened can.
 
After that, Jones pushed his girlfriend onto a moving lane of traffic. It caused the victim to be hit by a vehicle.
 
Paramedics then arrived and transported the woman to the hospital in critical condition.
 
Officers arrested Jones without incident. They subsequently charged him with aggravated assault of a family member.
 
According to reports, Jones has previous assault records. In 2006 and 2013, Jones has previous convictions of assaulting a family member. In 1994, authorities sentenced him to 20 years in prison for assaulting a peace officer.
