Elsa Lopez-Villa, Carlos Garcia Dies in Waco Car Accident; Isaias Resendez Arrested for DUI

 
WACO, TX (April 17, 2023) – Officers identified 30-year-old Carlos Garcia of Mexico and 21-year-old Elsa Lopez-Villa of Waco as the victims who died in a DUI crash on Highway 84 on April 8.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Boys Ranch Road at approximately 9:10 PM. Based on a report, the victims were in a 2013 Honda Accord that was stopped on the shoulder at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 traveling eastbound crashed into them. Subsequently, both vehicles traveled down a steep embankment.
 
As a result, Garcia and Lopez-Villa died in the incident.
 
Crews took two other people in the Honda to a local hospital with injuries.
 
The Dodge driver, 26-year-old Isaias Martinez was charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
