LAS VEGAS, NV (September 23, 2024) — Authorities arrested 36-year-old Carlos Adan Alvarez after a multi-vehicle crash on Monday, September 9.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the collision happened shortly before 10:45 p.m. at Boulder Highway and Desert Inn Road.
 
LVMPD said a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Alvarez traveled at a high rate of speed south on Lamb Boulevard, approaching the intersection of Boulder Highway. At the same time, a 2017 Hyundai Elantra moved south on Boulder Highway on a steady green signal.
 
However, the Ford F-150 failed to stop at a red light and hit the left side of the Hyundai.
 
After that, the Hyundai spun out and struck multiple vehicles stopped for a red light on the eastbound lanes of Desert Inn Road. The F-150 rolled over and came to a stop on the center median.
 
Paramedics transported both occupants of the Hyundai Elantra to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition. They also transported the drivers of a Chevrolet Equinox and Mazda MX-5 to the same hospital with minor injuries.
 
Police said Alvarez also suffered moderate injuries and displayed signs of impairment. They then arrested him on suspicion of DUI and reckless driving, resulting in substantial bodily harm.
