Bess Chui Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident on Potrero Avenue in San Francisco

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 13, 2023) – San Francisco police identified Bess Chui as the victim who died in a hit-and-run on Potrero Avenue on January 1.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Alameda Street around 8:15 PM. Based on a report, Chui and a man were around the corner from the Great Northern nightclub, where they had attended a New Year’s Day block party.
 
As they were leaving the establishment, a vehicle struck them. Police said the vehicle had the green light at that time. Subsequently, the driver stopped before driving away from the scene.
 
As a result, Chui died in the accident.
 
The other person hit suffered injuries and is expected to survive.
 
Witnesses described the vehicle as a blue Honda Civic. They also described the driver as a black man in his 30s, standing perhaps 5-foot-8.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
