Bernardo Magana Killed after Edinburg Pedestrian Accident

 
EDINBURG, TX (April 1, 2024) — 46-year-old San Carlos resident Bernardo Santamaria Magana died in a pedestrian accident on Saturday, March 23.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on State Highway 107, west of 84th Street at around 6:13 a.m.
 
An initial investigation by DPS determined Magana walked southbound on Highway 107. Footage showed him crossing the street. Then a red/maroon passenger vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 107 struck him.
 
Authorities said the driver failed to report the incident. Then it fled the scene where Magana died.
 
Deputies described the suspect’s vehicle as a 1997 to 2002 red/maroon Ford Escort.
