Arthur Wright Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on 35 Freeway in Austin

 
AUSTIN, TX (August 17, 2023) – Officers arrested 35-year-old Arthur L. Wright of Texas for DUI following a fatal crash on 35 Freeway on August 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at the southbound service road of the freeway around 2:32 AM. Based on a report, Wright collided with another car and left the scene.
 
Police said the car rolled over and was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
 
The Austin Fire Department said four people in the car died at the scene. Officials did not yet release their names, pending kin notification.
 
A fifth occupant was able to escape the burning car.
 
Officers later found Wright walking eastbound on Battle Bend Boulevard. They charged him with four counts of Intoxication Manslaughter and four counts of Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
