Armando Tovar Jr. Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on 30 Freeway Service Road

 
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX (June 19, 2024)— Officers arrested 19-year-old Armando Tovar Jr. after a fatal DUI crash on Sunday, June 2.
 
According to the Grand Prairie Police Department, the solo-car crash took place on the 30 Freeway Service Road at Belt Line Road at around 1:40 a.m.
 
Police said a Chevrolet truck driven by Tovar Jr. traveled westbound. Then he failed to make a U-Turn and the vehicle slammed into a tree.
 
The driver and the passenger sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders arrived and then transported them to a hospital for treatment. However, the passenger succumbed to injuries later died at the hospital.
 
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased victim, pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, Tovar Jr. was released from the hospital. Officers placed him under arrest for Intoxication Manslaughter.
 
Authorities placed Tovar in custody at the Grand Prairie Detention Center.
 
Officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
