Gilberto Guzmán, Braulio Tamez Killed in Houston Car Accident

 
HOUSTON, TX (June 19, 2024) — Two people, Braulio Tamez and Gilberto Guzmán, died in a fiery accident on Sunday, June 2.
 
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Sam Houston Tollway and Little York Road.
 
HCSO said 19-year-old Tamez drove a Chevrolet Camaro with 17-year-old Guzmán as his passenger. Tamez then ran a red light at the intersection and crashed with a Toyota Camry, which supposedly had a green light.
 
The impact of the collision resulted in the Camaro hitting a pole. After that, the vehicle burst into flames and left Tamez and Guzman trapped inside the vehicle.
 
The Sheldon Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. However, they found both Tamez and Guzmán dead.
 
HCSO said the driver of the Camry, 33-year-old Daena Escalante, and her passenger, 31-year-old Blanca Velasco, were not hurt. They stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Officers said Escalante also did not show any signs of impairment.
 
An investigation into the crash is underway.
