CENTENNIAL, CO (April 1, 2024) — An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained injuries in a DUI crash on East Smoky Hill Road on Saturday, March 23.
 
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at about 4:15 a.m.
 
The deputy was heading to work at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility. Then the incident occurred at the East Smoky Hill Road and South Liverpool Street intersection.
 
The sheriff’s office said a tan Honda Odyssey moved east on East Smoky Hill Road. After that, it struck the deputy’s Dodge Ram 1500 moving south on South Liverpool Street.
 
The impact caused the deputy’s vehicle to overturn onto its roof. However, he was able to crawl out of the vehicle despite sustained injuries.
 
Emergency responders evaluated the deputy and said he did not have serious injuries.
 
Authorities arrested the 27-year-old male driver of the Honda. These charges include driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid driver’s license, careless driving causing injury, and no proof of insurance.
 
Officers then booked the suspect into jail on a $1,000 bond.
