Marvin Mathis, Antonio Torres Identified in Fatal Plantersville Car Crash

 
PLANTERSVILLE, TX (April 10, 2023) – Officers identified 21-year-old Antonio Torres of Huntsville and 33-year-old Marvin Mathis of Burton as the victims who died in a crash on Highway 249 on April 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near FM 1774. Based on a report, Torres was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia northbound on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he crossed into the opposite lane and collided with Mathis’ 2016 Ford Taurus that was traveling southbound. Then, a 2019 Chevy pickup also traveling southbound struck the Ford.
 
As a result, Torres and Mathis suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
A passenger in the Ford, 30-year-old Lakendra Mathis of Navasota, was taken to Herman Memorial Woodlands in critical condition.
 
The driver of the Chevy pickup, 21-year-old Keidy Carcamo Baires of Tomball, suffered minor injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
