DALLAS, TX (December 3, 2024) — A 44-year-old Dallas woman, Ana Gonzalez Perez, died in a five-vehicle accident on Friday, November 22.
 
According to the University Park Police, the accident took place on Preston Road and Lovers Lane shortly after 6:30 p.m.
 
A release said a Chevy Silverado ran a red light at a high rate of speed. After that, it crashed into a northbound vehicle on Preston Road. Then, the impact caused a chain-reaction incident. It led to the second vehicle pushing into three other cars stopped at the red light.
 
Authorities later said that one person died in the collision, whom they later identified as Perez. In addition, they said paramedics brought a juvenile to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas with critical injuries. Reports said he remains in stable condition.
 
Meanwhile, the suspect later identified as 42-year-old Alexis Ruiz of Irving, tried to flee following the incident. A witness detained him before University Park police arrested him about a block away.
 
Ruiz currently faces two charges of collision involving injury or death. Officials have set his bond at $50,000 for the second-degree felony charge and $30,000 for the third-degree felony charge.
