HOUSTON, TX (July 11, 2023) – Police confirmed that a hit-and-run driver struck and killed 57-year-old Aminah Gardner on eastbound 10 Freeway on July 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Fry Road at approximately 2:35 AM. Based on the report, Gardner was a rideshare driver for Uber and Lyft and she had just dropped off a rider before her tire went flat.
 
Investigators said that Gardner was about to change her tire when a vehicle struck her.
 
Police pronounced Gardner dead at the scene.
 
According to Houston police, the driver who struck Aminah did not stop at the scene and instead drove away. The vehicle is described by police as being white because a side mirror was recovered at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call Houston police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222TIPS (8477).
