Alonso Garcia Struck and Killed While Saving Daughter in Denver

 
DENVER, CO (December 29, 2023) – Officials identified Alonso Garcia who died in a pedestrian accident on 51st Street on December 7.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened at Scranton Street. Based on a report, Garcia was taking his 2-year-old daughter out to get something to eat during the crash.
 
He took her in a stroller and they were walking across the crosswalk when a car came on head-on and hit them. At that point, Garcia decided to throw the stroller out of the way, saving his daughter.
 
As a result, Garcia suffered a fractured ankle, a broken elbow, broken ribs, a torn ACL, and a fracture in his head. Emergency crews treated and released him. He died while recuperating and waiting for surgery at home.
 
Family members set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover his funeral costs.
 
Police cited the at-fault driver for careless driving resulting in injury and no proof of insurance.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
