Alexander Gomez Dead in Motorcycle Crash on Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX (June 27, 2024) — 19-year-old Brownsville resident Alexander Gomez died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, June 8.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened in the westbound lanes of on the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway on Saturday evening.
An initial investigation determined a red Yamaha YZF-6 motorcycle driven by Gomez traveled at a high rate of speed. Then it rear-ended a grey GMC Sierra Dually truck.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene. After that, they transported Gomez to Valley Regional Medical Center, where medical officers pronounced him dead.
Authorities said one male driver and one female passenger occupied the truck. There are no reports that they sustained injuries in the crash.
The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
