One Killed after Head-On Accident on South Timberline Road
FORT COLLINS, CO (June 27, 2024) — One person died in a head-on accident on South Timberline Road on Wednesday, June 12.
According to the Fort Collins Police, the two-vehicle crash happened at around 2:06 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 2900 block of South Timberline Road, near Custer Drive.
Fort Collins Police said a 1989 Cadillac sedan moved north on Timberline Road. Then it crossed into on-coming traffic and crashed head-on into a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It resulted in severe damage to both vehicles.
After that, the Poudre Fire Authority extricated three men who were involved in the crash from their vehicles. Then paramedics transported them to a hospital. However, the man driving the Cadillac succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.
The Larimer County Coroner will release the identity of the deceased driver after family notification.
Officers have not yet determined whether illegal drugs contributed as a factor in the collision.
The Fort Collins Police Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling Team handle the ongoing investigation of the crash.
Authorities closed southbound Timberline Road at Custer Drive for more than five hours.
