Alan Swendsen Killed and Christopher Hands Arrested after Flagstaff DUI Accident

 
FLAGSTAFF, AZ (October 22, 2024) — 66-year-old Alan Swendsen of Flagstaff died in a DUI accident on Sunday, October 6.
 
According to the Flagstaff police, the accident occurred on 4200 block of Lake Mary Road at about 1:00 p.m.
 
Police said 65-year-old Christopher Jon Hands, of Phoenix, drove his truck while under the influence. Then he collided with a motorcycle driven by Swendsen on Lake Mary Road.
 
Swendsen suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Police say that Hands was under the influence when they found him after the crash. While his charges include hit-and-run, officers have not immediately reported how or where they found Hands. There are also no reports on how he had allegedly fled the scene.
 
Authorities then booked Hands booked into the Coconino County jail. He faces accusations of second-degree murder, driving under the influence, and failure to stop for an accident involving death.
