Abigail Kim Dies, Lucy Kim Injured after Armstrong County Accident

 
ARMSTRONG COUNTY, TX (August 15, 2024) — 18-year-old Abigail Kim of Memphis, Tennessee, died in a car accident on Wednesday, July 31.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident took place on Highway 287, seven miles east of Claude, at about 7:39 p.m. Wednesday.
 
Texas DPS said 54-year-old Lucy Kim, of Memphis, Tennessee, drove a 2022 Toyota Highlander with her daughter Abigail as a passenger. They traveled eastbound on Highway 287.
 
Then, for an unknown reason, the Highlander veered off the roadway. It went through the center media and entered westbound oncoming traffic. After that, it collided with a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox.
 
Due to the impact of the crash, the Highlander overturned multiple times. It ejected Abigail, who did not wear a seatbelt.
 
Texas DPS officers responded and pronounced Abigail dead at the scene. Meanwhile, they brought Lucy to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries.
 
The driver of the Equinox was not hurt.
 
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
