Dakota Bowers Identified in Fatal Rollover Crash in Cooke County

 
COOKE COUNTY, TX (August 15, 2024) – Authorities identified 24-year-old Dakota Blake Bowers of Gainesville who died in a crash on Kirby Road on July 28.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Phillips Street around 12:25 AM. Based on a report, 23-year-old Caitey Nicole Sawyer of Leonard was driving a 2016 Can-AM Maverick northbound on Kirby Road with Bowers at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, Sawyer disregarded a stop sign, drove through a T-intersection, and crashed through a fence. Subsequently, the vehicle rolled over and ejected all of its occupants.
 
As a result, Bowers suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Emergency crews transported Sawyer to Medical City Denton with serious injuries. Another passenger, 23-year-old Bailey Michelle Rains, also from Gainesville, sustained minor injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
