97-Year-Old Mauricia Cruz-Rodriguez and Blanca Zamorano Killed in Accident on FM 803 at FM 510 [San Benito, TX]

Blanca Zamorano, Mauricia Cruz-Rodriguez Identified in Fatal San Benito Accident

 
SAN BENITO, TX (October 2, 2023) – Officers identified 97-year-old Mauricia Cruz-Rodriguez and 62-year-old Blanca Mauricia Zamorano, both from Los Fresnos, who died in a crash on FM 803 on September 26.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at FM 510 around 5:00 PM. Based on a report, the victims were inside a 2004 Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on FM 510 prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling southbound on FM 803 at a high rate of speed. Officers said both were vehicles approaching a 4-way intersection. Due to unknown reasons, the Dodge did not stop at the intersection and crashed into the Toyota and a 2022 Hyundai Kona.
 
As a result, both Cruz-Rodriguez and Zamorano died at the scene.
 
DPS did not release details about any injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
