Boy Dead in Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 50 in Pueblo
PUEBLO, CO (September 24, 2024) — A 9-year-old boy died following a semi-truck accident on Highway 50 on Monday, September 16.
According to Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred at around 5:27 a.m. on Highway 50, approximately five miles east of Pueblo.
CSP said the boy tried to cross Highway 50 from the Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park. Then a semi-truck traveling west on Highway 50 struck him.
The boy suffered fatal injuries and responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
According to CSP, there were no filed charges against the semi-truck driver, who remained at the scene. The driver is a Pueblo resident, CSP added.
CSP did not mention whether the boy lives in the mobile home park. They also have not released the reason why he was on the highway before dawn.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
