Apple Valley Car Crash on Highway 18; Byron Weekly Identified
APPLE VALLEY, CA (January 25, 2023) – The San Bernardino County Coroner identified 86-year-old Byron Weekly as the victim who died in a crash on Highway 18 on January 22.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Flathead Road around 6:03 AM. Based on a report, the victim was driving a red 2016 Kia Sorento northbound on Flathead Road prior to the crash.
At the same time, a black 2015 Dodge Challenger was westbound on the highway. Then, one of the vehicles failed to stop at the red traffic light, causing the two vehicles to crash.
As a result, the victim died in St. Mary’s Hospital after sustaining grave injuries.
Paramedics also transported the driver of the Dodge to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
