Nicole Ruddy Identified in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 395, Eddie Escobedo Arrested

 
HESPERIA, CA (January 25, 2023) – Officers identified 33-year-old Nicole Ruddy as the 35-week-old pregnant who died in a crash on Highway 395 on January 21.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just north of Poplar Street around 11:40 PM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was a passenger of her husband, 36-year-old Andrew Ruddy, who was driving a 2018 Toyota Corolla south on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
At the same time, 36-year-old Eddie Escobedo was driving a black 2020 Ford Explorer on the north side. Due to unknown reasons, Escobedo drove the Explorer into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision.
 
As a result, Nicole and her unborn child died at the hospital.
 
Paramedics also rushed Andrew and Escobedo to regional trauma centers for treatment of major injuries.
 
During the investigation, deputies determined Escobedo was under the influence of alcohol and over the California legal limit at the time of the crash. They later arrested and booked him at the West Valley Detention Center.
