84-Year-Old John Butz Killed in Accident on Highway 20 at Tibbles Lane [Fidalgo Island, WA]

John Butz Identified in Fatal Accident in Fidalgo Island

 
FIDALGO ISLAND, WA (March 24, 2023) – Officials identified 84-year-old John Butz of Oak Harbor as the victim who died in an accident on Highway 20 on March 5.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened just south of Tibbles Lane.
 
Based on a report, 26-year-old Gregory Cloud of Aptos, California was driving northbound on the highway prior to the crash. At the same time, 56-year-old Dean Butz of East Wenatchee was driving south with the victim and 55-year-old East Wenatchee resident Maria Arevalo.
 
As Cloud attempted to make a U-turn over a double yellow line, Butz ultimately struck Cloud’s vehicle on the rear passenger side. The vehicles came to a rest in the southbound lane.
 
As a result, John Butz suffered injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He later succumbed to his injuries and died.
 
Two other people were hurt in the crash. However, it is unknown who was injured at this time.
