Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 525 in Lynnwood

 
LYNNWOOD, WA (April 29, 2024) – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an 83-year-old woman died in a crash on Highway 525 on April 11.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at 148th Street Southwest. Based on a report, deputies were pursuing a suspect in a car in connection to a kidnapping of a woman and a domestic violence assault.
 
Police ended the chase when the suspect drove southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway. Subsequently, the suspect hit the victim’s car head-on. The suspect’s car rolled over, caught fire, and came to rest on top of the barrier between the northbound and southbound lanes.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release her name, pending kin notification.
 
The suspect, a 37-year-old Kenmore man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Charges awaiting him were vehicular assault – domestic violence, DUI, and second-degree murder.
 
Crews took his passenger, who was the victim of kidnapping, to Providence Medical Center for her injuries.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
