Suspected Wrong-Way Driver Involved in Crash on 82 Freeway in Benton County

 
BENTON COUNTY, WA (November 20, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that an 82-year-old man from White Bird, Idaho caused a wrong-way crash on 82 Freeway on October 31.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Locust Grove Road around 9:50 PM. Based on a report, the suspect was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the freeway prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, his vehicle crashed into an oncoming car.
 
As a result, a mother and her baby suffered injuries in the crash. Emergency crews transported them to the hospital for treatment.
 
Charges are pending against the driver. Police said drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
