77-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Mesa Drive [Houston, TX]

Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Mesa Drive near Tidwell Road in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (February 1, 2024) – The Houston Police Department confirmed that a 77-year-old pedestrian died in hit-and-run in the 9400 block of Mesa Drive on January 9.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 9:45 AM. Based on a report, the man was crossing the roadway on Mesa Road before the crash.
 
At the same time, a vehicle was making a southbound turn onto Mesa Drive. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle struck him. Subsequently, the driver did not stop to give aid to the man.
 
The male victim suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center, where he later died. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences did not yet release the victim’s identity, pending kin notification.
 
Police described the vehicle as a black Chevrolet Tahoe. They are urging anyone with information on the identity of the driver or details of the case to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
