72-Year-Old Leonard Loreen Identified in Fatal Crash in Whitman County

 
WHITMAN COUNTY, WA (April 2, 2024) – Officials identified 72-year-old Leonard Loreen of Spokane who died in a crash on Highway 195 on March 20.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened about 1.5 miles south of Colton shortly before 12:30 p.m. Based on a report, Loreen was driving a utility van driving southbound on the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a dump truck was traveling northbound on the same highway. Due to unknown reasons, Loreen drifted into the wrong lane and collided with the truck.
 
As a result, Loreen sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The other driver, 48-year-old Louis Brenner of Arlington, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
 
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts during the crash. The crash closed the highway for about 7 hours.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. However, no other details are available.
