Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 510 at Peter Kalama Drive in Thurston County

 
THURSTON COUNTY, WA (October 25, 2022) – Police confirmed that a 7-year-old child died in a suspected DUI crash on Highway 510 on October 20.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened in the westbound lanes at Peter Kalama Drive at approximately 7:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, a car was traveling eastbound on the freeway prior to the crash. Subsequently, it lost control and crashed into an SUV in the westbound lanes.
 
As a result, WSP said the child passenger in the car died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver and two passengers in the SUV had minor injuries.
 
In addition, the driver of the car, a 27-year-old woman, suffered injuries in the incident. She is facing charges of driving under the influence and vehicular homicide. At this point, the WSP is investigating the collision.
