Tony Tran Identified in Fatal Crash Involving Drunk Driver Doan Khanh Thuc Mai in San Antonio

 
SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 14, 2023) – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 5-year-old Tony Tran who died in a crash on 10 Freeway on July 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near West Avenue at 5:30 PM. Based on a report, 22-year-old Doan Khanh Thuc Mai was driving a Nissan Rogue on the southbound lanes of the highway at the time of the crash. Tran sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he suddenly pressed the brakes. Subsequently, a Hyundai Santa Fe rear-ended it. The Nissan was then was hit on its passenger side by a Dodge Ram.
 
As a result, Tran suffered grave injuries and died at a hospital.
 
Officers charged Mai with manslaughter.
