37-Year-Old Man Suffers Injuries after San Diego Scooter Crash on Madison Avenue

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 22, 2022) — A 37-year-old man sustained serious injuries after a scooter crash on Madison Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, August 17.

According to the San Diego Police Department, they received reports of the incident around 4:55 p.m. at the 1900 block of Madison Avenue near University Heights.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a motorized scooter and a Ram 350 truck, driven by a 57-year-old man.

Authorities said the scooter was heading west in a bicycle lane on Madison Avenue when the Ram truck drove in the same direction. However, it then turned right into the west alley of the 4600 block of Florida Street.

The turn put the truck into the path of the scooter, which slammed into the right front quarter panel of the vehicle.

The scooter rider sustained an open compound fracture of the wrist, prompting paramedics to transport him to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was uninjured.

San Diego Police Department still investigates the factors surrounding the collision. Officials encouraged anyone with information to contact the investigation unit at 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
