Driver Alexis Santiago Dies in Solo-Car Accident in Tucson on Congress Street
TUCSON, AZ (April 10, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identified 20-year-old Alexis Torres Santiago as the victim who died in a car accident on Congress Street on April 2.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Freeway Road. Based on a report, Santiago was driving a 2016 Hyundai Genesis at high speeds prior to the crash.
At that point, he was still with another vehicle north. After crossing Congress from Freeway, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two electrical transformer boxes in a dirt lot east of the street.
As a result, emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said crews took his passenger to Banner-University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
As of now, police continue to investigate the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
