19-Year-Old Lilian Pena Cited in Distracted Driving Accident near Rock Island
ROCK ISLAND, WA (October 3, 2023) – Officials identified 19-year-old Lilian Pena of Quincy, 35-year-old Ricky Padron of Moses Lake, 34-year-old Cheyanna Padron of Moses Lake and 29-year-old Sandra Corona of Quincy who suffered injuries in an accident on Highway 28 on September 27.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 7:24 PM. Based on a report, Pena drove a 2021 Nissan Sentra eastbound on the highway at the time of the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, Pena rear-ended a 2018 Honda Odyssey, which triggered a chain reaction crash involving two more vehicles up front. The Honda then hit Padron’s 2007 Toyota Camry and the Toyota struck a 2014 Mazda 3.
As a result, Pena, Padron, Padron and Corona were hurt in the crash. Emergency crews transported them to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment.
Investigators said distracted driving caused the accident. Pena was ticketed for distracted driving.
