Dorothy Weaver Identified in Fatal Head-On Accident in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (October 3, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identified 88-year-old Dorothy Smith Weaver who died in a DUI accident in the 9200 block of East Old Spanish Trail on September 29.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near 22nd Street and Harrison Road. Based on a report, a 21-year-old man was driving a Silver Mazda 3 sedan west on Old Spanish Trail at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the man swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into an eastbound Toyota Avalon with Weaver in it.
 
As a result, Weaver sustained grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
Crews also took other passengers in Weaver’s vehicle to the hospital with various injuries.
 
TPD officers concluded that impairment was not a factor but the Mazda driver would face charges after hospitalization.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
