PHOENIX, AZ (June 19, 2023) – Phoenix police identified 16-year-old Paulina Vargas-Ochoa who died in a hit-and-run on 27th Avenue on June 7.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Weldon Avenue. Based on a report, Vargas-Ochoa had been crossing mid-block the intersection at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, an unidentified vehicle hit her and left the scene afterwards. Police said it continued southbound on 27th Avenue after the collision.
 
As a result, Vargas-Ochoa suffered grave injuries in the incident. First responders took her to the hospital, where she later died.
