15-Year-Old Carma Pekkala and 16-Year-Old Mally Bruckelmyer Identified in Fatal Kennewick Accident

 
KENNEWICK, WA (October 13, 2023) – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office identified 16-year-old Mally Bruckelmyer of Burbank and 15-year-old Carma Pekkala of Pasco who died in a crash on Country Heights Drive on October 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Homestead Road shortly before 9:30 PM. Based on a report, the victims were in a car that was going northwest on Homestead Road at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the car didn’t make it around a turn and drove off the road. It then fell into a ravine and landed on its side.
 
As a result, Bruckelmyer and Pekkala suffered grave injuries in the incident.
 
According to Benton County Fire District 1, there were four other people inside the car. One only had minor injuries while the others were in critical conditions.
 
Deputies said speed and unfamiliarity with the area were both factors in the crash.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
