19-Year-Old Orion Messina Arrested for DUI after Fatal Morro Bay Accident

 
MORRO BAY, CA (December 14, 2022) – Police arrested 19-year-old Orion Messina following a car crash on Highway 41 on December 10.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just before noon, south of Bear Ridge Road.
 
Based on a report, Messina was driving a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara southbound on the highway at the time of the crash. Subsequently, he told police that his vehicle hydroplaned when he entered a right-hand curve. The car then crashed into a hillside and overturned.
 
As a result, a 16-year-old passenger in the car died at the scene. Officials did not release the name of the victim, pending kin notification.
 
Messina was not hurt in the incident.
 
Officers said alcohol was a factor in the crash and records showed that officers arrested Messina.
