Two Injured in Crash Involving 16-Year-Old Driver on Highway 702 in Pierce County

 
PIERCE COUNTY, WA (March 13, 2024) – Police charged a 16-year-old boy who triggered an injury crash on Highway 702 on March 2.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at 8th Avenue. Based on a report, the boy was driving west on the highway at the time of the crash,
 
Due to unknown reasons, he failed to yield the right of way when he turned left onto 8th Avenue. At that point, he collided with another vehicle going east on the road.
 
As a result, a man and a woman in the second vehicle sustained injuries in the incident. Emergency crews took the couple to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment.
 
Crews also took the boy to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup for his injuries. He is facing a second-degree negligent driving charge.
